Virtual First Fiesta

From Ashley: “Porter Goldman turned ONE on April 19. A large scale celebration had been planned at a local venue in downtown Kalamazoo and I was so excited to plan all the pretty details. At the end of March, we found out that the stay at home order permitted us to be able to gather for his party. So when life throws a quarantine your way, you decide to plan the most epic stay-at-home birthday party! We kept the Fiesta Theme and called it Porter’s First Fiesta. I hung the backdrop, made a balloon garland, and even baked our own smash cake because all the bakeries are closed. We had purchased mini Mexican sombreros to decorate with and I used bright colored garland and wooden beads as accents. I staged a cake table using our dining room table and decor from around our home to compliment the other decor pieces.  We had to get very creative because everything here was closed. We had a zoom call meeting scheduled where we called our friends in from across the country to sing to him and watch him smash his cake. It was so sweet and made my mama heart happy. Most of those people would have not been able to be apart of his party if we would have had a local party – it was a sweet silver lining in this all!”

 

Having owned an event planning firm, I have learned that life is too short and MUST be celebrated, even if that means a quarantine house party for three!
