“You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch.” If you aren’t familiar with that classic phrase, there’s a good chance you might be living under a rock. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love everything about the Dr. Seuss classic, from the cranky green Grinch to whimsical Whoville and the adorable Who’s! A Grinch Inspired Holiday Party has been on this party planner’s bucket list for a few years now, so when the opportunity to plan and style such a party came about, she pretty much MAYBE have actually squealed … loudly!
Styling this party was so fun for Banner Events! When I think of a Who-liday party, I think of polka dots & stripes, pops of unexpected patterns like chevron, crazy shades of red & green & touches of whimsy and that’s exactly what happened for this party! The Happy Who-liday party was literally inspired by a new exciting product to hit the party world, exclusively available from Smash Cake & Co. It’s “Party Paper,” and I think I’m in love!
Party Paper is a premium quality 50# matte wrapping paper and was designed to coordinate perfectly with Smash Cake & Co.’s boutique partyware and can be used for so many purposes from the obvious gift wrap to table runners, party backdrops, banners, rosettes, chair backers & more! With one product, you can easily coordinate an entire party at a fraction of the cost in far less time! No more going to store after to store trying to match products! For this event, they used the cherry red & apple green lines of Party Paper as the basis for the entire event.
Tonya of Soiree Event Design knocked our candy cane striped stockings off with her perfectly coordinating Who-liday printable invitation and party decor! Her printable package includes everything you need to add that Seussical feel. From cupcake toppers, scroll chair backer signs, banners, favor tags & labels, folding food labels, straw/party flags & beverage wraps, there’s unlimited possibilities for your Who-liday celebrations! She designed everything to match the lines of Party Paper chosen & captured the wonder & whimsy of Whoville in a magical way. We love the cute wording on the invitation!
By-the-way, when your invitation says to look for a Who wreath on your door, you have to have one and can’t disappoint. The adorable Who wreath was hand created by the amazing Jordan of Designs by Jordan, with a cute scroll sign from Soiree Event Design’s printable package added to tie everything together.
Party goers arrived in Who-ish attire and accessories. The cute dresses, hair accessories, and lace leggings were from Posh Peanuts! Necklaces were handmade by Addy’s Attic and were the perfect addition to the girls’ outfits. It’s amazing what a few perfectly selected accessories and pieces of clothing will do to create the perfect themed party mood!
Little Whos need a fabulous table for feasting! This Who-liday party table was so festive and fun. Using Party Paper, an eye-catching red striped table runner was added to the kid-friendly dining table and spruced up boring chairs with some chair backers made from green polka-dotted Party Paper, topped off with red paper ribbon accents and a cute Whoville Guest scroll sign.
Each place setting had a fun Christmas cracker filled with candy from Candy Galaxy (an easy DIY idea using Party Paper, ribbon & toilet paper rolls), striped color coordinating plates, polka dot napkins and stamped cutlery from the Smash Cake & Co. shop, and of course, the cutest DIY bottles of Grinch green punch decked out for the holidays.
Affordable candy tree centerpieces were made from candy from Candy Galaxy hot glued to foam cones from The Dollar Tree. There were also DIY mini dessert stands with candle sticks, glass plates (also from The Dollar Tree) and some Epoxy 6000 glue and accessorized them with a little party paper circle. WOW!
Every Who down in Whoville likes sweet treats a lot … But the Grinch who lived north of Whoville did not. That is, until he came to this feast. We’re pretty certain he changed his mind. A dessert table was designed with fun Christmas treats that little Who fans would love, all displayed in colorful ways on a gorgeous ruffled tablecloth from Candy Crush Events.
There were Cindy Lou cupcakes, Who Jell-o served in adorable dessert jars (such a fun layered dessert inspired by Anders Ruff’s tutorial), ornament and present shaped cake bites & chocolate covered Oreos for Santa (both by Bella’s Bakery & Bowtique). There were Rice Krispy treats, hand dipped in chocolate and jars of candy filled with so many red and green delights from Candy Galaxy.
But, in the center of them all, were the cutest Grinch cookies ever seen, each with a heart that had grown 3 sizes that day! The colorful Party Paper was carried over to the dessert table as both the background and the table runner and was also used to create rosettes for the banner and cupcake toppers. Polka dots, stripes and pops of chevron, oh my! A darling whimsical tree portrait included in the printable package by Soiree Event Design was framed as a focal point for the table.
A Who-liday party must have Who favors! Darling gable boxes dressed up in holiday style (more paper ribbon & cute gable box labels & tags from Soiree Event Design) were available for each little guest to fill with treats from the dessert table and even more sweet treats from the treat hutch, where glittered laser cut candies and custom Who Hair cotton candy favors were displayed. Our cute little guests were able to take sweet Who inspired treats home to enjoy later.
