Now that you have all of your ingredients lined up, it’s time to start putting these fun Christmas Rice Krispie Ornament Treats together with the helpful instructions below!
1. Melt Marshmallows and Butter
In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine the marshmallows and butter and heat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes. Continue to mix and check on the combination regularly while you are microwaving it.
2. Mix In Rice Krispies
This part is super easy, because it’s just like making regular Rice Krispie treats! Add in the Rice Krispies cereal and mix it into your marshmallow and butter combination. Continue to mix until the cereal is evenly covered in the marshmallow mixture. Easy peasy!
3. Grease Pan
Make sure to grease a 9×13″ baking pan, where you will press your Rice Krispies mixture firmly into the grease-covered pan. Don’t forget this step or your mixture will stick to the pan and clean up will become a lot messier!
4. Use Cookie Cutter to Cut Out “Ornaments”
First, you’ll need to let your Rice Krispie mix set for a few hours, in order for it to cool and slightly harden. This will help when you use the cookie cutter and will keep your fun “ornaments” in their intended shape.
Once the mix is cooled, use the large circle cookie cutter to cut out circle-shaped Rice Krispies.
5. Mix Colored Frosting
In two separate bowls, mix 1 cup of frosting with green food coloring and one cup of frosting with red food coloring. Transfer these to your decorating bags, which will make decorating your Rice Krispie Ornaments really easy for the little hands that will be helping. Don’t worry, it will make it easier for you, as well!
While we stick with the traditional colors of red and green, feel free to use any colors you would like to with the food coloring to be as creative as you want! Just because these are Christmas Rice Krispie Ornament Treats doesn’t mean you can’t think outside of the box!
6. Create White Frosting
In addition to the two colored frostings you create above, add another cup of white frosting to a third decorating bag. For all of the decorating bags, cut small tips off at the end of them, in order to control where your frosting will go on the Holiday Ornaments Rice Krispie Treats.
7. Add A Rolo Chocolate
Use the white frosting to stick a foil-wrapped Rolo Chocolate on top of each Rice Krispies treat Ornament. These will be the top of your “ornament” and we must say, the gold foil really makes it stand out as fun Rice Krispie Ornament Treats!
Now comes the fun part for the kids and adults, alike! Use the colors that you created in your decorating bags and start decorating the Rice Krispie Treat Christmas Ornaments any way you like! Top with sprinkles where you want, as well.
