A Special Dr. Seuss First Birthday

A Special Dr. Seuss First Birthday from Amber Joy of A Bit of Joy Photography: I was extremely excited to shoot Kevin’s 1st Birthday Party for several reasons. First, was the fun Dr. Seuss theme. When I heard about all the planning his mother Angie was putting into this I knew it was going to be amazing. The second reason was Angie’s story of love and loss and the excitement of celebrating her birthday boy. The following is an exert from her email to me about the amazing birthday cake. “My favorite part of Kevin’s party however, was his gorgeous 3-tiered birthday cake. It looked like it had come straight out of one of Dr. Seuss’s story books. When designing it, Lindsay, the owner of A Wish and a Whisk Cakes, asked what ideas I had for the cake. Aside from it being Dr. Seuss, all I wanted was for Kevin’s big brother Aiden to somehow be incorporated into the design. Although this party was all about our awesome, bouncing birthday boy, it had originally been planned long before I ever knew about our Little Kevie, when I was pregnant with our first child. But unfortunately, after being born still, we never got the chance to celebrate Aiden’s first birthday the way we had hoped. Lindsay took my simple request and created a more beautifully decorated (and insanely delicious) cake than I could have ever dreamed of! She added the initials of both my boys to the shirts of Thing 1 and Thing 2. Thing 1 ‘AKB’ is reaching up and giving balloons to Thing 2 ‘KAB’ for his birthday. Although we were never able to give Aiden that amazing first birthday party, he was celebrating his little brother with us on his big day.
