A Charming Southern Affair

A charming southern affair, captured by Carla McLemore Photography, includes sweet and sentimental details. By looking at these photos, you can just feel the love this sweet couple have for one another.

From the bride: After seeing Madelyn’s in the Grove, we both knew that we wanted to start the rest of our lives there. We knew we were taking a huge risk by planning an outdoor wedding, but we decided to go with it! After getting the major details of the place and food out of the way, I knew I was ready to start thinking more about decorations for the ceremony and reception. I knew that I wanted mason jars to be part of my wedding, which I acquired from my grandmother and aunts. I loved the idea of adding a candle and a little twine to make them look unique. My mom had purchased several lace tablecloths and curtains last summer. I also used a few lace tablecloths that had belonged to my grandmother, which had a very special meaning to me. So much of our wedding decorations were borrowed from family and friends. I was fortunate that I did not have to go out and purchase or rent too many items. I would have to say that Pinterest played a major role in decorating for the wedding. You can simply type in “Southern Wedding” and come up with hundreds of ideas! For flowers, I have two aunts that agreed to help me with bouquets and boutonnieres, along with a few arrangements. They used the flowers out of their own yards, my grandmother’s yard, and then a few family friends’ yards. Lynn Bailey with Lynn’s Cakes made both the wedding cake and the groom’s cake for the wedding. I used the same cake knife my mom and dad used at their wedding almost 30 years ago. For the groom’s table, since Scott and I are both University of Alabama alumni, we decided to use a houndstooth tablecloth and red and white shakers. I know that without my family and friends, there is no way that my dream wedding would have come true.
