Tea Party Themed Styled Shoot

Every little girl seems to have the same imaginary playdate that involves a tea party! Playing dress-up with girlfriends and sipping on tea in fancy china. Snacking on bite-size appetizers and having wonderful conversations around perfect decorations. And it all seems even better when it comes to life and really happens! That’s what happened at this Tea Party Themed Styled Shoot down in Austin, TX!

tea-party-styled-shootThere is something about Spring that brings these types of ideas to the front of our minds. Being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air and flowers is enough to put anyone in a good mood after a long winter!

tea-for-twoThat was part of the inspiration for the Styled Shoot Event that was done in back in June 2013 down on the Barton Springs River. Tea parties can take many forms, and this was primarily based on a day-in-the-life of Anne of  Green Gables’ characters, Anne Shirley and Diana Barry, in the young adult novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery. These two characters had an epic friendship and who better than to share a tea party with than your best friend?!?!

desserts-tea-partyThey took an afternoon canoe ride down the river where they could read and relax with each other while they floated down the river. What a unique concept and a great styled shoot!

tea-party-friendsThe styled shoot had a vintage feel and the personal stylist did a wonderful job with the girls to get the era and feel correct. Charm School Vintage styled the girls, while Hannah Heard Hair was the hair stylist and Rhea McCarter Makeup served as the makeup artist for the event. Shari of Charm School Vintage has an incredible collection that she has curated at her store in Austin, TX. Because of this, along with her imagination, range, and creative style, the ideas to really pull off the outdoor vintage feel for the styled tea party truly came to life. It was incredible!

tea-partyFor the design of the actual tea party and items that were served, Sophie from The Marvelous Vintage Tea Party took the lead because she lent a whimsical, playful air to the scene. It was elegant, yet fun and showed the great vintage feel in the photos.

place-settingsMary from Loretta Flower  lent a wonderful authenticity to the pictures with her advice on using greenery and more wildflower-esque filler (“think sage with long spikes, viney greens with tiny dots of blooms”), so that the floral crowns the girls wore on the river could have truly been made by the girls themselves, or by anyone for that matter!
