Pink and Gold Half Year Birthday Party

pink-gold-half-birthday-partyLouise and Catherine of Sunshine Parties LOVE any excuse to throw a party! After they stumbled upon a half birthday party on Pinterest, they decided they had to throw Catherine’s daughter, Hannah a Pink and Gold Half Year Birthday Party! It helps that these ladies are super talented party professionals who run a party business! The party, set in Durban, South Africa, was full of girly details and everything floral, pink and glittery gold! This fun idea of a mini celebration for surviving the first 6 months with baby was just the thing these ladies needed! Personally, we think every mama should have a half-year celebration! New party trend? … We think YES!!!

Sunshine Parties designed the pretty invitation and printable set and it was absolutely perfect for this super girly 1/2 birthday theme! The party table was quick and easy to set up because it didn’t contain too much (small tables typically make prettier set-ups). The set-up consisted of the DIY confetti backdrop, mini layer cake with a gold glitter 1/2 topper (printable), cupcakes, cake pops, macaroons, printables, and ribbons. Isn’t it just dreamy?! And do you know the best part? This set-up cost under $100 … it actually cost $80!!! They used cake stands they already had on hand and dressed them up with gold glitter ribbon and fresh flowers from the garden! Pretty floral food labels were attached to miniature little wooden stands. The gold glitter cupcake wrappers added a little pizazz to the plain cupcake wrappers underneath.

The magnificent mini layer cake, complete with a gold glitter 1/2 cake topper, was the perfect added detail! The topper, once cut out, can be quite flimsy so they just used a glue gun to add strength to the back by gluing around the edges (at the back) and the middle sections. They then attached a cake pop stick to the “forward slash” to add strength to that part and to insert the topper into the cake. GENIUS! Taryn, who also works alongside the ladies, ties bows like a professional, which you can see from the cake pops on the dessert table. BONUS TIP: Use a glue gun to attach the bow to the cake pop stick so that they sit straight and flat. These ladies show you that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a gorgeous party!

  1. I love the pink and gold. Cute party idea – I haven’t heard of doing a 1/2 year before. Thanks for sharing!
